From One War, To Another

Arc 1

Part 1

Darius Dies

Author; Drustan Leo Alvarez

It’s midday in the hood of Dallas Texas, decrepit houses with over grown lawns line both sides of the street, a gray haze of smog, exhaust and smoke fill the air.

The deafening sound of semiautomatic gunfire rings out along with the shouts of young black men.

"#### get dat #####r"

"Imma shove this ########## up your #### and ###### #### ####"

"I'd Love Too See You Try You ###### ###### then I'll ####in ##### ##### ######"

"Oh I Bet You Would You ####### ###### ####### Just Wait Till I ####### #### you with a ####################"

"########### Dat"

Blood scatters onto the ground as the two gangs exchange gun fire in the open street while civilians hide in their homes.

An old tan Toyota Corolla zooms recklessly down towards the fight, four men stuffed inside with their fair share of weapons and ammo.

The Corolla drifts to the left side a few yards from the main fight, the four doors immediately swing open and four men step out, from out the left passenger’s side steps out Darius Woodman a six year U.S. Army veteran on his first day back home from the army.

Darius strides out to the battlefield while loading his semi-automatic rifle, thinking to himself,

“From one war to another. Heh, should’ve known I wouldn’t be able to get out of the hood that easy.”

Juvante yells while holding his semi pointed up to the sky, “Yo Darius get yo ass back here and get some cover. ##### if you just walk up in there you gonna get shot, YO DARIUS!!!”

Darius just keeps walking sick of the fighting, sick of war, sick the bloodshed, and sick of his brothers getting killed.

Darius yells back while continuing forward without looking back, “I Just want to save my brothas ##### now lay down some cover fire!!!”

Darius sees one his brothas Kevin get shot in the hip and shoulder by the opposing gang, he steps in front of Kevin while laying down suppressive fire and dragging him back towards the Corolla.

He is somehow able to kill five of the opposing thugs, as he drags Kevin out of the kill zone and hands him back to Juvante.

Kevin says, “Thanks, bro!”

Darius turns around to respond, and then “BOOMM!!!!!”

He gets shot in the back of the head and falls down face first with a heavy thud, dead instantly.

He didn’t even have time for his life to flash before his eyes. His body lays there his brothers yelling in anger, shock, and disbelief.

Meanwhile, Darius is suddenly standing over his body, surprisingly feeling better than ever, he never knew being dead could feel so good.

Suddenly he hears a voice behind him “Excuse me, may I please have your attention, Darius.”

Darius quickly turns around to see a being so bright it was hard to look directly at him. He can’t quite make out the beings defining features but can make out wings and some type of humanoid figure along with maybe a halo.

“Darius do I have your attention, if so I would like to give you a message?” Darius is speechless, but every time this angel speaks he only gets good clean, pure vibes, filled with hope, and a peaceful calm.

Darius stutters not out of fear but surprise, “Y-yes, you have my attention, sir.”

The Angel of God, “Good. Though you have died you will not yet be returning home to heaven, but instead, will carry out a mission from Yahweh in another world threatened by a wicked race filled with sin. Your mission is to work with four other heroes to slay the ancient Therican Race of darkness which wages war against man, and the other man like races of that world. You have the option to refuse however you will not only be able to accomplish much in the name of Yahweh, but you will be rewarded upon your inevitable success, as The Father himself will bestow upon blessings you. Should you accept of course, If not you will not be able to go heaven today.”

Darius replies, “I accept.”

The Angel of God answers, “Good. Now that you have accepted we will be on our way, now. Ok, we are here.”

Darius looks around him and realizes they stand in ancient ruin of blue sleek metal, seemingly high tech, in the middle of a tropical rain forest, underneath two blazing hot yellow suns hanging in the middle of the sky, the one on the right two-thirds the size of the one of left.

He realizes he now feels a strange new power within him, and his sense of everything good has been dulled back to when he was alive.

He looks at his hands now appear slightly darker and realizes he also now has a prehensile tail, as he moves it about. He grabs it and stares at the black fur.

The Angel of God speaks, “You have been reborn as a mature adult male of one of the three ancient long extinct races, The Alecel. You have a legendary class high affinity for mana, light, and fire, your strength, agility, dexterity, and speed, are also high legendary class, you also have the racial trait extreme mana refinement.”

Darius exclaims, “Daaaammmnn!”

The Angel of God Replies, “Yahweh has also decided to give you this bag of infinite inventory, containing a map and a year’s worth of food that will never decay, or degrade and ten million gold. On the map is marked the moving locations of the other Heroes. Beware of the five others that came before you, they were once gamers and were reborn as overpowered members of the Protector Race. They were supposed to slay the Therican, but are instead treating this world as a game, you and the four who came into this world just now are their replacements. The other four sent along with you have heroic potential, they are the hunter Rad, the fire fighter Marcos, The detective Riku, and the emergency hero Mathew. Their photos are in the bag.” The Angel hands the bag to Darius says “Goodbye and God Bless.”

And the angel disappears.

Stands there still wearing his army pants, and boots along with his white sleeveless shirt from the army.

Darius bends down his head craning his neck through the bag's loop, slides it over his shoulder, sighs, and says, "From one war, to another."

He then looks around to his right with a tired expression, sighs, and says, "Well time to get to work."

Darius looks at the overgrown weeds, grass, scattered trees, and fallen pillars. Next to one of which he notices an entrance with a busted down door with a huge dent in it.

He calmly walks over assessing the situation.
